In brief: Instinct has closed a $1 billion Series C at a $10 billion valuation. That quadruples its valuation within one month. The key test is not the chat interface but whether the agent can execute purchases and bookings reliably and accountably.

Capital for an agent with transaction access

Sequoia Capital, Benchmark and Coatue participated. Founder Noah Shinn had already raised $250 million at a $2.5 billion valuation in August. Instinct was founded in 2025; Shinn previously worked at AI company Sierra.

The early-access service accepts requests by text or phone. The company says it plans trips, buys groceries, books tickets and cancels subscriptions. A concierge can call businesses and make reservations. Instinct therefore moves from answers to actions touching accounts, personal data and payments.

Security claims are not yet an audit

Instinct cites isolated sandboxes, short-lived local credentials and identity-signed tool execution. It says an active detector can intercept faulty responses before the next reasoning or tool step. These remain vendor claims; no public independent measurements of detection rates, false positives or bypasses are available.

The boundary became visible on 21 September when a user posted screenshots in which Instinct appeared to provide someone else's personal details and itself described a crossed conversation. Shinn said the output was a hallucination and that no isolation boundary had been breached. He did not publish a technical investigation that would let third parties verify that diagnosis. A data leak is therefore not established, but neither is independent clearance.

Pandorex Analysis: the valuation bets on the complete action loop

The $10 billion valuation assumes a personal agent will complete tasks through a transaction. It does not demonstrate revenue, retention or reliability; the announcement provides no robust operating metrics.

Sandboxes and short-lived credentials can limit the blast radius of a compromised tool. An agent with purchasing and booking authority also needs auditable confirmation rules, logs and a clear separation between invented output and an action that was actually executed. Instinct must now show that product velocity and control can advance together at precisely that boundary.
